Dental Alloys is a course that gives you everything you really need to know (and just about everything you ever wanted to ask) about wrought and castable metal dental alloys. What is the difference between type I, II, and III gold? What is palladium, and how does it affect the alloy? How about all the other trace metals in an alloy? How does porcelain stick to a metallic substructure? Why choose one type of metal for a removable partial denture framework as opposed to another? What's the difference between grains and crystals? Why is gold soft? What is "strain hardening" and "cold working"? Who is allergic to which metals? We make it simple and interesting.

Dental Ceramics is a course that will familiarize you with the history, properties and manufacture of glass, porcelain and the other ceramics that lie at the heart of esthetic dentistry. We start at the potter's wheel to understand the basics and history of different forms of ceramics and the mechanisms behind their production. We progress through the properties and manufacture of feldspathic glass, porcelain, and advanced ceramic cores. At the end of the course you will understand glazes, fluxes, and stabilizers. You will know the difference between aluminous and ceramic cores. What is a zirconium core, how are they made, and why do you still need a feldspathic veneer to compete the crown? What is silane, and why do you need it? What are Lumineers? If you use porcelain in your practice, this course provides essential information that will help you make important decisions.

Dental Composites are an increasingly important part of any dental practice. Every dental professional knows that resin-glass restoratives are composites, but even most dentists do not realize that all dental cements are also composites. This course covers all areas of dental composites including glass ionomers polycarbonates, and zinc oxide based cements, as well as the different types of resin-glass composites. You will learn the difference between macrofills, microfills, nanofills, hybrids and nanohybrids, as well as the mechanisms of bonding. Why do glass ionomers stick to tooth structure without acid etching? How does dentinal bonding work? Why should you choose one composite over another? Why do some of your posterior composites seem to be pressure sensitive. These and numerous other questions are answered here.
