Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Explain the action of a nerve.

  2. Explain the action of local anesthetic drugs on nerves.

  3. Describe different techniques of local anesthetic administration, and what teeth are effected by each injection.

  4. Identify the toxicity level for all anesthetic medications used.

  5. Identify symptoms of complications that may result from administration of local anesthesia and the treatment for each.

  6. Understand the rationale behind the use of alternative forms of anesthesia, including sedation and electronic dental anesthesia.
